Happy Earth Day, Austin! Here’s how to celebrate:
🌱 Learn About Sustainability at UT’s Earth Day Fair.
The University of Texas at Austin’s Earth Day Fair starts at 2 p.m. today at Gregory Plaza on campus. Learn about sustainability, try solar-powered smoothies, and meet local sustainability leaders. If you can’t get to the fair today, the university is hosting Earth Day events for the rest of the month.
🌀 Pick Up Trash on Lady Bird Lake by Boat or Foot.
The Trail Conservancy’s Earth Day Clean Up is on Friday. You can choose from three locations to start your trash pick-up at 9 a.m. or noon: Rowing Dock, Epic SUP, and on the Butler Trail at Festival Beach. You must register online to volunteer.
🫧 Help Austin-Area Rivers at Travis County’s 2025 Spring Cleanup.
Travis County Parks and the Colorado River Authority are hosting a river cleanup on Saturday at 9 a.m. at seven locations throughout the Austin area. The event is free to attend and cleaning supplies will be provided. Just make sure to wear closed-toe shoes and clothing you can get dirty. Sign up to volunteer online.
🥳 Celebrate at the Earth Day Jubilee.
The Trail Conservancy’s Earth Day Jubilee starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday at International Shores in Riverside. The event includes goats, live music, pizza, recycled crafts, compostable giveaways, and more.
🗑️ Learn How To Toss Your Trash.
You don’t have to attend an event to celebrate the earth. A good start in appreciating our home is learning how to dispose of your trash. Austin Resource Recovery has a webpage where you can type in an item that you want to throw away and it will tell you how to dispose of it properly.
🌎 Happy celebrating, earthlings!
