👀 All Eyes Are on Prop Q
Austin voters will decide whether or not to raise property taxes today. The tax increase is called Proposition Q and is expected to raise $110 million to help with the city’s $6.3 billion budget if passed.
The measure has proven controversial and we heard arguments from both sides on City Cast Austin:
You’ll see 17 proposed amendments to the Texas constitution on your ballot, too.
- Amendments include: A ban on "death taxes," a ban on capital gains taxes, and a measure to let judges deny bail to people accused of some serious crimes.
- Check out this voter guide for a detailed list of all of the amendments.
