We made it to Election Day, y’all. If you didn’t make it out to the polls during early voting, no problem! Here’s everything you need to know if you’re voting today:

⏰ Polls Are Open All Day

Voting is open today from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. throughout Travis County. Not sure if you’re registered? Check online.

🗳️ There Are Dozens of Voting Sites

In Travis County, you can vote anywhere with a “vote here/aqui” sign. You do not have to vote at a particular spot based on your address.

Voting centers are located all over Travis County. The Travis County Clerk has a list of locations and a map online.

One voting kicks off, you can check wait times on the Travis County Clerk website.

🪪 Don’t Forget Your ID

Texas requires voters to bring one of seven forms of identification to the polls to be able to vote. Make sure to bring one of the following:

  • Texas Driver License issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS)
  • Texas Election Identification Certificate issued by DPS
  • Texas Personal Identification Card issued by DPS
  • Texas Handgun License issued by DPS
  • United States Military Identification Card containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Citizenship Certificate containing the person’s photograph
  • United States Passport (book or card)

👀 All Eyes Are on Prop Q

Austin voters will decide whether or not to raise property taxes today. The tax increase is called Proposition Q and is expected to raise $110 million to help with the city’s $6.3 billion budget if passed.

The measure has proven controversial and we heard arguments from both sides on City Cast Austin:

  • The Case For Austin’s Tax Rate Increase
  • The Case Against Austin’s Tax Rate Increase

You’ll see 17 proposed amendments to the Texas constitution on your ballot, too.

  • Amendments include: A ban on "death taxes," a ban on capital gains taxes, and a measure to let judges deny bail to people accused of some serious crimes.
  • Check out this voter guide for a detailed list of all of the amendments.

🗳️ Happy voting!
