Guess what y’all? It's HOT. As we barrel further into the summer, I find myself looking for places where I can cool off in more ways than one. As if the universe heard my plea, Cabana Club has begun their soft launch in Austin. Located just off East Seventh Street, Cabana Club is open every day 7 a.m. to midnight. Inside is a perfect work space, and includes lots of seating, large windows, and coffee. Outside is a hidden oasis of bamboo, cabanas, lounging couches, and a cute little pool. You know I had to check it out.

Our first visit was a Tuesday night around 10:30 p.m. It was quiet and dimly lit. Staff were super friendly and greeted us immediately. I had a bourbon cocktail called Cake By The Ocean ($11) that was sweet and boozy and went down way too fast. My second cocktail was Crispy Rays ($12), and it was even boozier than the first, but leaned more toward a daiquiri with lots of citrus.

The patio and pool area is bigger than you’d imagine and pretty private. Before you reach the pool, there’s a covered patio area with seating. The pool itself isn’t big enough for doing laps, but it’s perfect to stand in, look cute, and cool off. There were cute lights, floaties and an outside shower.

My second visit was on a Monday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. It was a little busier, but still calm enough to focus and work. The WiFi and AC were strong and offered a nice break from home. I had a frozen cocktail called Irish Affogato ($12). It was crazy good and my favorite so far. It’s Irish whisky based with vanilla, espresso, and whipped amaretto almond creme. It tastes like a spiked sweet frozen coffee. Delicious!

Cabana Club is one of those places I plan to pop into when I want to work away from home and get a little social interaction during the day. The price point is good, the drinks are good, there are food trucks outside, the bathrooms are clean, and the servers are nice. And as if that’s not enough, there’s a pool right outside. Does it get better than that?
