Patty Griffin, Adrian Quesada, Spoon’s Britt Daniel, Fastball, Money Chicha, and other special guests are putting on a benefit concert for Casa Marianella, a shelter in East Austin for people seeking asylum in the U.S. The show is on Dec. 9 at ACL Live at the Moody Theater and tickets start at $40.
😂 “Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue” Is Coming to Town.
Doesn’t a “The Golden Girls” tribute sound great? “Golden Girls: The Laughs Continue” is a play where your favorite “The Golden Girls” characters are played by men. The show runs Dec. 10-22 at McCullough Theatre. Tickets start at $46.50.
🍿 Catch a Holiday Movie at Paramount Theatre.
Paramount Theatre has a handful of classic Christmas movies playing this month. Watch “Home Alone” on Dec. 17, or “It’s A Wonderful Life” on Dec. 19. Looking for something less wholesome? “Edward Scissorhands” is showing on Dec. 16. Movie tickets are $12.
💀 Hear “The Nightmare Before Christmas” by Austin Symphony Orchestra.
The Austin Symphony Orchestra will play the score to “The Nightmare Before Christmas” live at the Long Center while the film is projected on a big screen. The show is on Dec. 17 and tickets start at $58.
🩰 Ballet Afrique Is Doing “Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker Suite.”
It’s not the holidays if you don’t see “The Nutcracker” right? Ballet Afrique is doing “Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker Suite,” which is jazz-infused and based in Harlem, New York. The show is on Dec. 19 at Bass Concert Hall and tickets start at $34.
