“Heated Rivalry,” a Canadian TV show following the lives of two closeted gay hockey players, has taken over the internet, book stores, libraries, and the Golden Globes.

The show stars Connor Storrie, a 25-year-old from Odessa, Texas, and Canadian actor Hudson Williams, and has continued to rise in popularity over recent weeks. So much so that you now may be looking for a place to see hockey in real life.

Surprisingly, Austin has a handful of hockey teams you can become a fan of:

⭐ The Texas Stars

The Texas Stars are an American Hockey League team that plays at H-E-B Center in Cedar Park, 2100 Avenue of the Stars. Single game tickets start around $19 depending on how far out you’re buying.

🦇 The Austin Ice Bats

The Austin Ice Bats are a North American 3 Hockey League junior team. The team plays at Ice and Fields at the Crossover in Leander, 1717 Scottsdale Drive. Game tickets are $16.

🤘 University of Texas Hockey

The University of Texas at Austin has a Division II men’s ice hockey team that plays in the Western Division of the American Collegiate Hockey Association and the Texas Collegiate Hockey Conference. The team has games through Feb. 1 and plays at the Chaparral Ice Arena, 2525 W. Anderson Lane. Tickets are $7 for kids and range from $20 to $25 for adults.

Want to take hockey lessons instead of watching from the stands? Try one of these:

⛸️ Chaparrel Ice

Chaparrel Ice, 2525 W. Anderson Lane, offers hockey lessons for adults and children ages 4 and up. The facility holds classes throughout the year.

🏒 The Pond Hockey Club

The Pond Hockey Club, 9402 United Drive, offers hockey and skating lessons, and runs an adult hockey league and youth hockey team. Registration for the spring adult league starts in March.
