Mother’s Day is May 11, and hopefully I don’t have to tell you you need to hurry up and make a brunch reservation. This is Austin, you should be accustomed to the reservation rodeo out here! But, if you’re looking for an event to take the mom in your life to, I come bearing gifts. This is what I’d do with my mom to if I wasn’t leaving Austin for the big day:

🪻 Picnic at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is hosting a daylong event on May 11 starting at 9 a.m. Order a $22 picnic box to enjoy by May 4, or pick up a $10 cheese and charcuterie cone the day of. Live music starts at noon and a craft station will be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tickets are $12 and up.

🫖 Have a Tea Party

Mozart’s Coffee Roasters and The Driskill are hosting teas for Mother’s Day. Spots are still available at Mozart’s for May 10-11. Tickets are $65 and include food and drink. The Driskill’s tea is on May 11 and tickets start at $45. You’ll definitely want to book your tea parties as soon as possible – spots are filling up fast!

🎻 Listen to the Austin Symphonic Band at the Capitol

The Austin Symphonic Band will perform on the south steps of the Texas State Capitol on May 11 at 7 p.m. The concert is free to attend.

🧀 Make Mother’s Day Cheesy

A few spots remain for a champagne, caviar, and cheese tasting event at Antonelli’s Cheese Shop on May 11. The tasting is at noon and costs $90 a person.

🛍️ Shop and Dance With Mom

Meanwhile Brewing Co. is throwing a Mother’s Day party on May 11 at 11 a.m. The event is free to attend and includes a performance by a bluegrass band, vendors for shopping, brunch specials, and a mom and kid yoga class.
