The holiday season is in full swing in Austin and I know you’re looking for fun plans! I’m here with a list of holiday shows, movies, and ballets to get tickets for before it’s too late. Check it out:
🩰 Catch a Nutcracker
You can see “The Nutcracker” two ways this season:
- Ballet Austin’s “The Nutcracker” runs Dec. 5-23 at the Long Center and will include a number of local celebs, including Franklin BBQ Co-Owner Aaron Franklin and Antone’s Co-Owner Will Bridges, as Mother Ginger. Tickets start at $25.
- Ballet Afrique will perform “Duke Ellington’s The Nutcracker Suite” on Dec. 15 at Paramount Theatre. Mother Ginger will be played by local singer Tameka Jones. Tickets start at $52.17.
🍿 Watch a Holiday Movie
Paramount Theatre is showing a number of holiday movies throughout December. Classics like “White Christmas,” “Die Hard,” and “Little Women” will be screened, among others, and tickets are $15.
🎥 Experience ‘Home Alone’
If the holidays just means it’s time to watch “Home Alone” to you, you’re in luck. Macauley Culkin will be at Bass Concert Hall on Nov. 29 for a Q&A and screening celebrating the movie’s 35th anniversary. Tickets start at $58.20.
Can’t make it to the Bass? Get a ticket for “Home Alone” In Concert at the Long Center on Dec. 16. Tickets start at $34.
🎶 Snag a Concert Ticket
Lots of seasonal concerts are on the calendar before the new year. Here’s a quick run down:
- Nov. 28: Home is Here: A Concert for Casa Marianella at Paramount Theatre
- Dec. 11: Jelly's 13th Annual Christmas Jam at ACL Live at 3TEN
- Dec. 13: Holiday Hootenanny 2025 at Radio/East
- Dec. 16: Mariachi Sol de México de Jose Hernandez at ACL Live at The Moody Theater

🎭 See a Musical
If you ask this writer, there’s nothing better than seeing a musical when a slight chill is in the air. Austinites can delight in the following this season:
- “A Christmas Carol” runs at Zach Theatre’s Topfer Theatre Nov. 19 through Jan. 3.
- “A Charlie Brown Christmas” is showing at the Kleberg at Zach Theatre on weekends through Dec. 28.
- “Disney's Beauty and the Beast” will be at Bass Concert Hall Dec. 2-14.
- “Parade” runs at Ground Floor Theatre Dec. 4-20.
