It’s no secret that Austin can be an expensive place to live, especially if you’re trying to enjoy a night out! But it doesn’t have to be like that. You just have to get a little creative to have fun on a budget. Here’s our best tips for having fun and keeping your wallet full:

💸 If You Do It Right, You Should Never Have To Pay for an Activity

Free stuff is all around us all the time, y’all. Museums, pools, concerts, and more are free if you pay attention. For example:

Free concerts are happening all the time, it seems. The Drop-In, Blues on the Green, and Hot Summer Nights just ended for the summer, but we have HAAM Day coming up in September and Free Week in the winter.

🔥 Another hot tip: Keep an eye on our events calendar where free things to do are always on the list!

🍽️ Seek Out Happy Hours and Food Deals

Austin has really great happy hours all over the place. Here’s some of our favorites:

  • Head to Peached Tortilla, 5520 Burnet Road, between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. daily for their really great Social Hour. Deals include $4.50 tacos, $9 burgers, $5 beers, and $7 cocktails, to name a few!
  • Clark’s Oyster Bar, 1200 W. 6th St., offers half-off martinis and $5 oyster shooters Monday through Friday 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Allday Pizza, which has a couple of locations, has specialty pizza slices for $5.50 and up, and regular slices starting at $4. The pickle pizza slice is really good by the way.
  • KuWay's Banh Mi, 1309 W. 45th St., has some of the best bahn mi in the city starting at just $7.50!
  • Head to Hillside Farmacy, 1209 E. 11th St., on a Sunday night for their $25 steak dinner meal, which comes with a side.
