Welcome to September, y’all! This month marks the start of fall and return of some of the city’s best events. Let’s get into it:

📃 A Bunch of New Laws Are Now in Effect

Texas lawmakers, as much as your dad likes to tease, were busy? did a bunch during the 2025 legislative session. A total of 835 new laws went into effect on Sept. 1. Some of the big ones include: A school voucher program; a ban on diversity, equity, and inclusion programs in K-12 schools; and an expansion of the state’s medical marijuana program.

🎸 It’s Your Last Chance for ACL Fest Tickets

Austin City Limits Music Festival is nearly here! While you’ll have to get on a waiting list for three-day passes, one-day tickets are still available for the festival, which runs the first two weekends of October. One-day tickets start at $170. Schedules for each day of the festival are out now, which makes picking a day much easier!

💃 Festival Season Is Upon Us

Does festival season ever really end in Austin? Not really! But things are ramping up with fall approaching. Here are the festivals we’re eyeing this month:

Other big events happening this month that we can’t totally categorize as festivals but are still very important to us:

🤘 Saturdays Are Busy Again

It’s September and that means you have to go back to avoiding the University of Texas at Austin campus on Saturdays. Yes, this section is about college football! We don’t want you to get stuck wondering “What’s with all this traffic?” on a Saturday.

The UT football team plays six home games this year, starting the morning of Sept. 6, when the Longhorns take on San Jose State University. With tailgating, traffic is likely to start early.

🎉 Have a great September!
