Hello, November! A ton of fun stuff is on November’s agenda. Prepare for even more festivals, holiday prep, and more. Here’s our guide to November:
🖼️ Austin Studio Tour Returns
Austin Studio Tour is one of those annual events that makes you feel lucky to live here. You get to visit Austin artist’s studios, galleries, and creative spaces during the tour! It’s really cool! This year’s tours run Nov. 8-9 and 15-16.
📚 Matthew McConaughey Heads to Texas Book Festival
Texas Book Festival runs Nov. 8-9 downtown and is free to attend unless you’re going to a ticketed event, like Matthew McConaughey’s talk on his book “Poems & Prayers.” Pop downtown for author presentations and panels, book signings, food trucks, cooking demos, and more.
⭐ Mark Your Calendar for the Annual Austin Powwow
The Austin Powwow, where Native American communities from all over the country convene to dance and sing, is back at the Travis County Expo Center for its 33rd year on Nov. 22. Tickets start at $10 if you buy online.
🏃 Turkey Trot Registration Is Still Open
The ThunderCloud Subs Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving is one of Austin’s most fun traditions and you don’t have to be super speedy to participate. You can run a 5-mile route or walk a mile. It’s whatever you’re feeling! Registration is still open and starts at $25.
🦃 Go Zero Waste at Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is this month and since we’re always thinking about ways to be kind to the earth, why not go zero waste? It’s pretty simple. Be a mindful shopper, skip the single-use cutlery and plates, opt for cloth napkins, and be sure to toss your turkey bones, fat, food scraps, and leftovers into your green, city-issued composting bin.
🛍️ Holiday Shopping Starts This Month
It’s officially holiday shopping season! Austin has lots of ways to shop:
- 50th Annual Garage & Estate Sale, Nov. 5 and 7-9
- Blue Genie Art Bazaar, Nov. 14 - Dec. 24
