Halloween is seven days away! If you haven’t figured out your costume yet, we’re here to help. Here’s a handful of costume ideas that are topical, Austin-y, and simple to execute:

🏈 Arch Manning

Arch Manning, the starting quarterback for The University of Texas at Austin football team, is an easy peasy costume to put together. Pick up a jersey or T-shirt with Manning’s number (16) on it, pair with whatever bottoms you please, maybe grab a football to carry around, and voila! You are the sophomore star!

❗ Austin’s New City Logo

This one is for my news nerds. You’ll like it if you’ve also been following all the drama surrounding the city’s new, $1.1 million logo. Lots of Austinites seem to dislike the logo, and if you’re at a party with fellow Austinites, you’re sure to be the talk of the night. It’s also an extremely low stakes craft: Just print out the logo and tape it to a shirt. Wow, amazing!

🚙 A Waymo

It seems 2025 has been the year of the autonomous vehicle. They seem to be everywhere and everyone’s doing it. For this costume, you’ll need an artsy gene. Find a cardboard box, knock out the bottom and attach some sort of strap like a rope to the top so you can drape the box over your body. From there, you just need to paint the box to look like your favorite autonomous vehicle, and walk around all night getting in the way. Everyone’s going to love it!

⭐ Any Austin Celeb

Dressing as a local celebrity is pretty straightforward. Throw on a red bandana, braid your hair, and you’re Willie Nelson. Wear all burnt orange and walk around saying, “Alright, alright, alright,” all night and you’re Matthew McConaughey. Need a couples costume? Try being Austinites Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons. Just wear a red cheerleading outfit and a football uniform, and you’ll be some of the pair’s most iconic roles.
