After some minimal begging, y’all absolutely came through with my Austin Summer Bucket List survey. Your answers were specific and interesting, and honestly, do y’all want a job here? Let’s look at what we’re doing this summer, shall we?

🍖 Try Franklin Barbecue.

Waking up early to get in line at Franklin Barbecue in East Austin is a pilgrimage for many Austinites. The restaurant is open Tuesday-Sunday at 11 a.m. until the meat is sold out. Godspeed, barbecue lovers.

🏄 Paddleboard on Lady Bird Lake.

Ahh, a classic summertime activity in Austin: Paddleboarding on Lady Bird Lake. Pick pretty much any side of the lake and you’ll find a spot to rent a paddleboard – EpicSUP, Lady Bird Lake Rentals, Austin Rowing Club, and more.

🎤 Go to the Ben Platt Concert.

Ben Platt, who you know from his Tony award-winning role as Evan Hansen in the musical “Dear Evan Hansen,” and from the “Pitch Perfect” movies, is coming to Austin. Platt is bringing his “The Honeymind Tour” to Bass Concert Hall on July 12. Tickets start at $39.50.

🎭 Visit ZACH Theatre For a Show.

ZACH Theatre is showing “The Lehman Trilogy” through July 7 and “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” July 31-Sept. 8.

🍑 Pick Peaches in Fredericksburg.

Is there anything better than biting into a fresh, juicy peach in the summer? Venture out to Fredericksburg to pick your own or to just buy a few without doing the labor yourself. The Fredericksburg Convention and Visitor Bureau has a list of orchards to try. Peach season runs through mid-August and Jamey Vogel of Vogel Orchards said the 2024 peach season will be better than the last two years!

Did anyone else watch “Legally Blonde: The Musical: The Search for Elle Woods” on MTV in 2008? (Lea Suzuki/The San Francisco Chronicle via Getty Images)

🩷 See “Legally Blonde: The Musical” at Zilker.

This summer’s free musical at Zilker Hillside Theater is the one and only “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” The show runs Thursdays through Sundays July 12 through Aug. 17. Pack a blanket and a snack and we’ll see you there!

🧳 Get Out of Town.

Two readers who responded to the summer bucket list survey are headed to Wisconsin this summer, and doesn’t that sound so nice? We highly recommend getting out of this Texas heat if you can! I’m dreaming of cooler days in Colorado and rainy afternoons in South Florida.

🍸 Have a Cocktail at a Fancy Pool.

Austin has a wealth of hotel pools you can buy day passes to this summer. Soon you’ll be kicking back with a yummy drink pretending you’re a celebrity without a 9-to-5. 😌 Resort Pass has a list of Austin hotel pools with day passes and we highly recommend studying it.

🎬 Watch a Movie at Paramount Theatre.

The Paramount 50th Summer Classic Film Series is going all summer long, featuring movies like “The Sound of Music,” “Blade Runner,” “The Goonies,” and more. Tickets are $12.

🚗 See the “Carros y Cultura” Lowriders Exhibit at the Bullock Museum.

The Bullock Texas State History Museum’s “Carros y Cultura” exhibit explores Texas’ lowrider culture and includes cars and bikes on display. The exhibit runs through Sept. 2. Tickets to the museum start at $9.
