August is Austin’s Pride Month and we’re filling up our calendar with all the parades, shows, and shopping possible. Here’s our top five favorite events for the month:
🎉 Austin Pride Parade and Festival
Hopefully this is already on your calendar, but just in case it’s not: This weekend is Austin’s big Pride weekend! On Saturday, head over to Fiesta Gardens in East Austin for the festival at 11 a.m. Tickets start at $10 for kids. Get in a disco nap and then make your way to the Texas Capitol for the parade at 8 p.m.
🛍️ Big Ole’ Queer Market at Palmer Events Center
Shop more than 130 LGBTQIA+ vendors and artists this weekend at Big Ole’ Queer Market. The market is open on Saturday and Sunday starting at noon and is free to attend. Just bring $10 to park at the Palmer Events Center, 900 Barton Springs Road.
🍳 Legendary Drag Brunch & Market
Recover from the Pride parade and festival with a drag show and shopping. Head to the Brewtorium, 6015 Dillard Circle, at noon. The show is hosted by The Wonder Woman of Drag Kelly Kline and includes performances by Natasha Capri, Sierra Mykels, Maxine LaQueene and Gigi Supernova. Join the fun for free or pay $25 to reserve a VIP spot.
🎥 PRISM 37: aGLIFF’s LGBTQ+ Film Festival
PRISM 37 kicks off Aug. 21 and runs through Aug. 25. A festival badge is $125, while other passes start at $25. You can also buy $15 standalone tickets to films. The festival lineup includes documentaries, short films, a screening of “Saved!” during the movie’s 20th anniversary, and truly so much more. Films will be shown at Violet Crown Cinema and Alamo Drafthouse’s Mueller location.
🤠 HOMOCOMING at Cheer Up Charlie’s
Head to Cheer Up Charlie’s, 900 Red River St., on Aug. 23 for HOMOCOMING. The event is put on by Neon Rainbows and includes the Gay Ole Opry Drag Show, hosted by Austin-based drag queen Brigitte Bandit, a MUMs Beauty Pageant, and queer two-stepping and line dancing. The party starts at 9 p.m.
