It’s May! (Insert Justin Timberlake meme here.) May in Austin means patios, the start of swimming season, and even more festivals. Let’s make plans:

🍹 Enjoy Patio Hangs While You Can

May is the last month you can go outside without worrying about triple-digit temperatures (usually), and you need to take advantage! Temperatures in May 2024 hovered near 100 degrees, hitting a peak of 99 degrees twice, according to the National Weather Service. The year before was even cooler, with temps peaking at 94 degrees. So, get out to your favorite patio, or opt for park picnics before it’s too terrible out.

Where To Celebrate Austin’s Patio Season

🎉 Festival Season Continues

Huge news! A million more festivals are happening this month. Shocking, right? OK, here’s a list:

🎶 ACL Fest Lineup Is Coming

Prepare your wallets. The 2025 lineup for Austin City Limits Music Festival will be announced on May 6 at 9 a.m. Three-day tickets go on sale the same day at noon. Do you have any predictions? Also, don’t forget to mark your calendars – the festival will be at Zilker Park Oct. 3-5 and 10-12.

🤩 It’s Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The city is throwing its annual CelebrASIA Austin event at the Asian American Resource Center May 3 at 11 a.m. The festival is free and includes food, performances, music, and more.

👙 Get Your Swimming Plans in Order

Ideal swimming weather is on the docket for May, and if you want to visit spots that require reservations like Emma Long Metropolitan Park, and Hamilton Pool Preserve, start locking those dates in now.

👋 Happy May, y’all!
